OneStopBuildly Supports School Construction in Tanzania
Why We Got Involved
When a community organization in Dar es Salaam approached us earlier this year, they had a simple request: help us put a roof over our children's heads. The old school building — a single room with a leaking tin roof and dirt floor — served 120 students. They had secured land and local labor, but lacked the quality building materials needed to construct a proper classroom block.
For us, the decision was straightforward. We are in the business of supplying building materials. We ship containers across continents every month. If we could not help a community build a school, what were we doing this for?

What We Contributed
Working with our factory partners in Zhejiang, we donated and shipped the following materials:
- Roofing sheets — color-coated steel roofing panels sufficient for four classrooms.
- Ceiling panels — lightweight suspended ceiling systems to keep classrooms cool in the tropical climate.
- Ceramic floor tiles — durable, easy-to-clean tiles for classroom floors.
- LED lighting fixtures — energy-efficient lighting for each classroom.
- Doors and window frames — pre-fabricated aluminum frames with insect screens.
Total material value: approximately $18,000, consolidated into one 20-foot container and shipped from Ningbo to Dar es Salaam.
"The children used to sit on the ground. When it rained, class stopped because the roof leaked and the floor turned to mud. Now they have a real classroom — lights, ceiling, tile floor. It changes everything." — Community project coordinator, Dar es Salaam

The Bigger Picture
This project matters to us for two reasons. First, it is simply the right thing to do — and every company, regardless of size, can find meaningful ways to give back. Second, it reflects the kind of relationship we want to have with the communities where our materials are used.
We do not just want to be a supplier that ships containers and sends invoices. We want to be a partner that understands local needs, contributes to local development, and builds trust that goes beyond a purchase order.
How You Can Get Involved
If your organization is planning a community construction project — a school, a clinic, a vocational training center — and you need building materials at reduced cost or with logistics support, reach out to us. We cannot say yes to every request, but we review every one. Email cindy@onestopbuildly.com with details of your project.
Looking Ahead
The four-classroom block in Dar es Salaam is now complete, serving over 500 students across morning and afternoon sessions. We are exploring similar partnerships in Kenya and Ghana for 2027.
If you are a developer or contractor who values working with a supplier that invests in the communities it serves, contact us at cindy@onestopbuildly.com. We would be glad to discuss your next project.
